The survey conducted by RI Research finds that: 56% of recipients of permission-based e-mail from retailers say they are more likely to make purchases from the retailers that they receive e-mails from 52% say they have a more favorable opinion of the retailers that send them e-mail because of the communications they receive. 48% say they feel more loyal to retailers and their products as a result of receiving permission-based e-mail. While e-mail marketing programs have become standard in retail it is important to understand how they affect not just online sales but also store sales and consumers’ perceptions of brands says Kevin Mabley senior vice president of Epsilon strategic services. “The research we conducted expands beyond just online behavior and measurable activities and demonstrates the offline implications and branding halo effect of e-mail marketing. 87% of survey respondents who receive permission-based e-mail from retailers say e-mail is a great way to learn about new products.
